We were worked hard today! FHS is currently hosting their Halloween Haunted Trail fundraiser, so we started our day by going through the trail and collecting old glow sticks that would need to be replaced for that night.
Our next job was cleaning out and organizing a storage shed behind the facilities. This shed is used to stove import event items such as chairs, signs, event tents, etc. We even had a thrilling encounter with a Black Widow Spider! Don't worry all, my (Miss Manning's) African origins were a big help here!
The group was then split into teams. Some cleaned out and organized the Society van. Others inventoried and restocked the organization's feed room, where the food for every animal on the property is kept and managed.
Next, the team worked together to clean and organize travel kennels in another shed on campus. A few girls washed and scrubbed all the large trash cans. FHS Staff then asked club members to help them prepare for another big event happening in Spartanburg that evening. This involved moving crates, collecting leashes and other important necessities and loading them into the van.
The last project of the day involved cleaning up the horse stable area on the property. We cleaned horse buckets, storage containers, horse blankets, trashcans, and more!
Between all this labor the team got in some dog time. We met Seri, a 3 year old pit bull mix. She is the sweetest dog ever, but unfortunately suffers from hip dysplasia. It didn't keep her from running around and letting the team rub her belly for as long as they would. We hope Seri, and all her friends at Foothills, find loving, long-lasting homes soon!
